Eight Park Avenue is one the most frequently requested communities in Downtown Shanghai. Located on Xikang Road, it is very convenient for expats who work near the West Nanjing Road commercial area - many top offices are located here, such as Plaza 66 and CITIC Square. Further, plenty of Western bars and restaurants are nearby, and as a consequence, many expats live not only in the compound, but also in this neighborhood.
Most apartments come with modern elegant design concepts. Layouts range from 1 to 4 bedrooms. Residents have free access to all onsite facilities including an olympic (50m) indoor swimming pool, tennis court, gym, squash court, table-tennis court, snooker, badminton & basketball court, bowling, chess & poker room, café, reading room, and children's playroom. Electric scooters are one of (, if not) the most popular means of transportation in Shanghai. The immense popularity is shared by locals and expats alike. Obvious advantages are affordability (compared to cars), that there is no need for a driver's license, and that they are more or less environment-friendly.
Since March 2017 however, all unregistered scooters in Shanghai are in severe danger of being confiscated by traffic police. Regulations require scooters to conform to very specific speed, weight, wattage and voltage standards.
